New Years Resolution… Smezelution…

This year is the year I will change that habbit, I will lose those dang last 10 pounds, or I am nice to the neighbors dog…

To be at peace, to have more peace, to give more peace, is on a lot of people’s minds this new year. Maybe it comes out as I need to be more organized, I need to be less stressed, I need to spend more time with my family, I need to lose some weight, I need to get in shape. These are all aspects of the search for peace and balance. In Yoga, we have a practice called a Sankalpa. This is gifting devotion to yourself and to your higher self a practice of breath and of discipline!! It is typically done over a course of time, and is done with discipline. A Sankalpa is performed without an end goal other than retaining a deeper peace. If your need is to have more organization, you can set a daily task for yourself (today I organize this corner of my room). If you need to be less stressed, your Sankalpa might be, I will sit and focus on my breath for 10 minutes 2 times a day this month. If yours is a physical aspect, you could do walking meditation once a day, looking up as you walk around. We have a beautiful area here to look up at, taking in all that is beautiful. Consciously stop and observe your food, feel gratitude for it and chew it slowly treating your body more like a temple than a garbage dump. Slowing down will actually give you more time in general because you will be more conscious of your surroundings and become present. So get out your journal and start brainstorming ideas, get yours in place and join us as we look at different ways to observe our own sankalpa this month. I would love to hear from you throughout your journey.

Om Shanti Shanti Shanti Peace Peace Peace

Love to you all,

Joy and your Manitou Yoga Teachers

Please call or email with any questions and spread the good word around town about our new class and new location.
